About The Author

Dan was born in South Africa, the son and grandson of Pentecostal pastors, and grew up in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) until coming to the U.S. at age 11. He lived in Plattsburg, NY, until 1964, when his family moved to California.

In 1971 Dan had a powerful encounter with the Holy Spirit when a friend invited him to Mission Valley Church in Fremont (a Pentecostal Holiness church). Within months Dan was off to Southwestern College in Oklahoma City, where he met Jane Williams. They were married on August 10th, 1974, and after graduating with his B.A. in religion from Southwestern in 1975, Dan attended Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. He graduated from Fuller with a M.A. in Theology in 1977.

After spending several years with the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Calvary Chapel and Church on the Way (Foursquare), he and Jane discovered the Vineyard of Santa Monica in 1981, and it was “love at first sight.” After moving to Camarillo in 1982, they planted the Vineyard of Camarillo, where they continue as senior pastors today. They have two daughters, Lindsey, who was born in 1984, and Stephanie, who was born in 1985.

Dan has been engaged in the study of the Holy Spirit, revivals and the Kingdom of God for much of his 35-year ministry, and has taught frequently on these and related subjects. He has been the overseer of up to 18 Vineyard churches in L.A. & Ventura Counties for the past twelve years, and is currently on the National Leadership Team of Vineyard USA.

Dan believes another Great Awakening is imminent, and his passion is to see the Church of Jesus Christ mobilized to bring true revival to the United States.
